Expose Yourself!

Leverage Your (Broadcasting) Credentials

Consider this:

You are a musician who starts her/his own radio show in order to get your own music on the air and increase your visibility.  Now that you are on the radio, you possess credentials (and power) that you didn’t prior to hosting your own show.  Everyone knows that if you want to really make it “big” in the entertainment industry that exposure is the key.  Being the host of a radio show gives you unprecedented abilities to expose yourself like never before!

Maria Flores (host of “Lo Nuestro) used her broadcasting credentials to get into clubs free of charge by offering to interview the club owners on her show.  The results were so effective that she evolved into offering to broadcast live “on-location” at the club.  She had total unrestricted access to artists who were performing at the club, their management and any other industry related contacts that may have also been present.  This presented her a huge opportunity to network and make a name for herself in the industry.

She is not an artist herself, but she used the exposure and the subsequent relationships built from her networking to establish connections for local artists in her community and quickly became a coveted and highly sought after resource for unsigned artists to connect to “bigger names” in the industry; including other artists, management and record executives.

This same “power” is accessible to anyone!  If you are an artist yourself you would be able to leverage those connections and relationships to benefit the progression of your own career.

This is just a single example of how to leverage your broadcasting credentials.  The possibilities are endless!
